TIBOR Reels
A Ted Juraczik built reel is the standard by which all other fly reels are measured. Ted's reels have owned more than the 400 IGFA world records. In 1976, a Hungarian refugee, Ted Juraczik established himself as a tool and die expert, and a budding fly fishing enthusiast. Serendipitously, Ted met soon to-be legend Billy Pate in Islamorada. A discussion ensued about fly reels of the day, which Pate said had poorly designed and built drag systems. Nothing, thus far made could slow down a sailfish or a big tarpon. Ted and Billy talked, drew sketches and put forth ideas and goals. In a short amount of time, Ted came up with a classic on the first try, and called it the BILLY PATE Tarpon. Following the Tarpon, Ted added Bonefish and Salmon reels to that Billy Pate line. Three decades later, there are the TIBOR, TiborLite, TIBOR QC, TIBOR Spey, and a bevy of special and custom products added to the list.
Redington Reels
REDINGTON was a 1992 invention of Dave Redington, a Stuart, Florida native and rod maker who teamed up with Jim Murphy, a marketing personality straight out of New York. The company took the somewhat stayed fly rod and reel industry by surprise with some good marketing, good fly rod products, rock bottom pricing, and hard-to-beat rod replacement guarantees. SAGE bought out Redington in 2003 and moved the operations to the Sate of Washington. Dave Redington and Jim Murphy went on to start their own rod companies. Today, the company is headquartered in Bainbridge Island, WA, and its product lines include everything from ladies wear to Spey rods. Our staff sells a lot of Redington's reels to novice fly anglers, as well as to many of our expert anglers and guides who respectively like to have them as back-up reels, or for novice clients and kids.
